I spent the last four months or so dumping a few hundred dollars into making my office AMAZING. Stands for my tech (...I know that sounds extra af, but seriously, it helps SO MUCH to be able to prop things up where I can see them), shelving (took a couple tries...), a KEURIG (don't judge me), and even a mini-fridge! I'd just gotten it installed, on, and filled up with food, and spent three hours installing one of those Mainstays bookshelves (T-T I remember when they were only $20...) and was EXCITED to finally have things all set up like I wanted, when I got told that the moratorium was ending, and rent was "going back up" to where it used to be. Which was... $1,200/mo.
You know. More than double the $500 I was paying. Enough for a fucking studio apartment, quite frankly. So... That's over. I spent a good three, three and a half weeks getting it all packed up and put into storage (a lot of which was complicated by the fact that he Westwood location has been shut down and now I'm back in Hollywood, so that's an hour commute any of three ways -- made it a lot less practical to get down there, and thus I was down there less often) but I ended up squeaking by at the last second. I managed to get it all stuffed in a spot not too far away on Sunset, and the idea is that now I go apartment hunting. I spent up until this last weekend ALSO in college classes (...That didn't go well, quite frankly) so it didn't get very far, but it's done now. I even got approved for a loan, which is a huge help. I dropped a good chunk into my credit cards to help boost my score up a bit to help on that front, so... God willing, I'll have an update soon about THAT.
Meanwhile, I've just picked up a month's pass at the WeWork that's right around the corner from the Hollywood PodShare, so I at least have a quiet, good-wifi place to work in the meantime. I have space to stretch out here, even if I don't get to have my books and everything available. BUT, I do have a storage unit, so at least I can just go grab things if I need them, and they're not at my house taking up so much space.
Anyway! I'm going to be working on backlogs amongst editing and everything else, so hopefully, we can get this thing caught up at SOME point this year... And get to a better pace on blogging in general.
