All the geeky swag... And yes, a Bobby Flay cookbook. Because I fucking love Brunch @ Bobby's (which may or may not have been the inspiration for "Brunch With the Golds", won't lie...) and brunch in general. SO OMG, BRUNCH @ BOBBY'S COOKBOOK, SOMEONE LOVES ME, AND I AM LOVED. Doctor Who, Star Wars, 90's animation, all of my fandoms are represented here... BUT ALSO, THE FOOD FOR TODAY!

The amazing and wonderful Alton Brown is doing a cookie swap! Basically, get on your instagram, your twitter, your tumblr, and hashtag your cookie creations with #ABCookieSwap, and he does a best of at the end of the season! Cookie took this as a challenge (her name isn't Cookie for no reason...), and her entry was an amazing spin on an oatmeal raisin -- she made hers with dried cranberries (because I personally LOVE craisins) and white chocolate chips for a rich, yet simple recipe that is OMG AMAZING. "Check out that beautiful [cookie] footage!" Christmas eve cookies are best cookies.
Well, Cookie and I are out on the town trying to find a theatre that ISN'T sold out for Star Wars (like you do), and any time we end up at Tucson Mall... We gotta do a #RumbelleHamburgerDate at Red Robin. HAVE TO.
Late night date night! Today we're partaking in the always wonderful 2 for $20 deal at Applebee's, and sampling their new Cracker Jack cheesecake!
Man, Raising Cane's has some pretty fun "Elf"-themed stuff for the holiday season, including an absolutely ADORABLE little Cane ploosh with an elf costume! Alas, no moneys for such things, but COOKIE has an appreciation for elf culture.
I'm sure there's a brand name there, but my Japanese isn't THAT good. So, furikake (not to be confused with the other popular -ukake that I know you're thinking of, you pervert) is a 'rice condiment', which might sound weird to an American who doesn't eat that much rice, but to a culture that generally treats everything to a side of white rice, it's like not having ketchup for your fries. Furikake is usually dried seaweed or flavouring as a kind of 'seasoning' which you can mix in with your rice (or just toss on top) to make finishing off that last bit of white a pleasure, or A MIDNIGHT SNACK, like I do. This is salmon furikake, made with dried salmon, seaweed, and a few other spices, AND IT IS AMAZING. I picked up some salmon because salmon is one of Cookie's most favourite things, and sold her on this pretty darned quick. If you are of the Japanese bento box persuasion, eat a lot of Chinese take out, or are generally trying to find a healthier snack, consider some white rice and a bit of furikake for an interesting change of pace.
Tea and biscuits is always a wonderful diversion. Today we picked up some Teavana from the mall, and some MARIA cookies as biscuits, a piece of crochet and cranberry juice as a cold counterpoint as we sit for another holiday movie marathon.
Ah, Kappy's. A local favourite, Kappy's is a pub/sports bar type place down on Wilmot/Grant. Joanne is an old family friend of the owners and has some embarassing graduation day memories there, but one of the things WE love about Kappy's is their AYCE fish fry on Fridays! This is especially a big deal for Lent, when eating fish for meats on Fridays is totally a thing.
Remember what I said about the tacos? EXCELLENT for leftovers! This morning, I've a southwestern scramble with some mexican tri-cheese, tomatoes and taco meat in there. I was actually aiming for an omelette, but I botched it (too much grease from the taco meat, I think, kept it from keeping a body. Too much meat, not enough eggs), so it's a scramble instead. That's the nice thing about eggs! Short of burning them, you can't really do it wrong. And of course, some home made home fries (hand diced potatoes, pan tossed with garlic powder, pepper and salt) on the side. A nice and hearty breakfast! Almost make me wish I had a Dos Equis to wash it down with, ha!
God bless in-laws. Jo's mom dropped by with some noms for us today, including a rather tasty (and a little spicy, nice amount of black pepper) turkey pot pie!!! SO TASTEH.
