Cajun Joe's again! This time, some honey spicy wings with some crisp, delicious french fries, ALSO covered in that lovely sauce... Oof. A good, hearty, sinful little meal, and at a good price! These wings are very addictive, a good amount of sweet and heat, as with everything. And Joe is just an awesome guy. I can't help but come get some when I can.
...Whoops. I did it again.

So, there's a shop next door to ours called Cajun Joe's that is a little barbecue spot, chicken, ribs, wings... It's damn good! And the owner is just a sweet guy, a real friendly and helpful neighbor. His sauce is a delicious savory with a good amount of spice that gives a little heat that keeps you coming back for more! Coleslaw, mac'n'cheese, collards, sweet potatoes, cornbread... All of the best goodies, hearty home-cooking. I wish I could afford to come patronize him more, his food is SO GOOD.
Today I went to the Cleveland Pagan Pride Festival with a couple of my witchy friends, and we met some pretty cool peoples! Including a crystal shop that dragonkin Raz is a fan of (and now I'm a fan of too, hehehe) called Mystic Moon Orgone (which predictably specializes in crystal orgonite), some tarot artists, a local kilt shop (Damn Near Kilt 'Em! Gorgeous kilts!), and of course, FOOD VENDORS!!! I do love to see what the options are at places like this, and I was not disappointed. This grand and glorious dragon-sponsored spot was called "Dragonz Lair Vittelz", and screamed RenFaire and dragonkin! I ordered the "Hot Mess," a bowl of on-site smoked chicken and fire-roasted rosemary potatoes, topped with barbecue sauce and shredded cheddar cheese. The line was long as hell, and the smoker smelled AMAZING, and it was absolutely divine to eat...
I need one of these near me, definitely a fine way to support my dragonkin at such a fitting venue as this! Phone was dying, alas, so this was the only pic I got. The decor in here was pretty spectacular, very much pacific islander, tiki torches, wood bars and partitions, obnoxious lights, and what a drink list! This place is notorious for its Scorpion, described on their website as follows: "Largest drink in the world, a conglomeration of rums, gin, brandy and liqueurs, plus tropical fruit juices. Superbly blended and beautifully served. Sipped through Kon Tiki super long straws. The recipe is not available to anyone but Kon Tiki Mixologists." This thing is a veritable fish bowl of tart punch and spirits, just the kind of knock-your-face-off tropical drink you'd expect. Most everything on the menu is spun with the island flair, with polynesian barbecue mixed in with more standard pub grub like nachos and tacos. Joanne and I went at the behest of our two birthday companions, one of whom issued a strong challenge to me, and we had quite an impressive drinking run. After sake with dinner, a Scorpion bowl (largely between Nick and myself, since Jo was driving and Laura is expecting), an Adios Motherfucker (which is always one of my favourite drinks!) and something else called a "Caribou Lou", a drink based on a Tech N9ne song made with pineapple juice, Malibu & 151. It had quite a kick, but I'm a damned good actor. I kept my composure pretty damned well, made it appear I wasn't completely dizzy from it all until I was out of sight to flail all over the bathroom, hahaha!
One of those nights where I go to bed, wake up (still drunk) for a bathroom break, go back to bed, wake up sober. Because that's how I roll. Don't challenge me to a drinking contest, you'll never know if you won or not. I would definitely recommend this place as a post-dinner bar spot. It's very popular, and for very good reason. The food was amazing, and the drinks very good quality. Nothing I hate more than getting a drink that's full of ice and then topped with seltzer, drives me nuts. |
