The best thing about a potatoes bake like this is that you can keep the leftover taters for breakfast in the morning! Chicken breasts roasted with garlic, lemon pepper, basil, oregano, parsley, and a tiny bit of chili powder and bouillon in the taters bath, for flavor. I MEAN, LOOK AT THE HERBS ON THAT SKIN. WOWZA.

Sometimes you know what you want, and sometimes what you want is waffles drowned in syrup and a couple eggs on the side in the middle of the night. I've just come to accept this is a thing in my life, and try to keep waffles in the freezer for just such a reason.
I've been looking forward to this all week... Sorry for the blurry picture, but I needed to just... Go to New China and get some self care comfort food. This place is still my favorite buffet, and you can't beat the price. I sat and ate and enjoyed it with as much relish as I could muster.
Is it stir fry? Is it noodle soup? YES. The answer is yes. I decided I was going to break in my wok and cooked some ground beef and 'stir fry veggies' tossed in soy sauce, duck sauce, garlic powder, bit of curry paste and brown sugar, and a pop of chili powder. The flavor was good, but I'd seen someone toss these kinds of things in noodles and I... Tried it. I think I used too much broth or something? The noodles were cooked in beef boullion, soy, duck sauce, more brown sugar and chili powder. When they were done, I dumped the soup into the stir and mixed it all up, and I don't know what it is, but it's a very uniquely bastardized Asian dish of some kind, with oolong on the side. Because. I mean, it was perfectly edible, if very questioning of itself.
The tasty looking breakfast I'm neglecting. I have this weird love for English muffin sammies, especially for breakfast. This one is a fried egg, cheese (AMERICAN PROCESSED CRAP THAT SHOULDN'T QUALIFY BECAUSE I'M POOR AF), and deli ham. And... hot dog relish. Because why not? Something I'm experimenting with today.
...Not bad, actually. Gave it a good little kick that I appreciated. I know, my lighting is crap. Was at the "Drink & Draw" Wednesday at the R Bar with Constant Con tonight (WHAT A MOUTHFUL... Basically, geeks and nerds coloring in downtown Tucson) and figured I'd get some late night noms on my way home. The Shot In the Dark is a local favorite, particularly for late night munchies downtown -- Frank gets sammie from here all the time, so I'd been meaning to try it.
Today I got a grilled peanut butter and jelly sammy (Jo turned me on to toasted PB&J, so I was curious about this variation) with some added banana slices, and a bag of jalapeño chips for a side. I will say, the richness of warmed PB&J was very rich, very decadent, the bananas doing a bit of a banana fosters thing in there. Honestly, I should have had a glass of milk with this, it was very heavy on the tongue, but not at ALL in a bad way. If you want an indulgence of your childhood for some post-pub crawl midnight munchie goodness, this is really a wonderful call to make. 530% recommended! |
